Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps come about from the 12th Century English game called Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s horsemen wagered on Hazard amid a siege on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French relocated south and found sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it mathematically fair.
